Project name: PAX Australia 2025 Merchandise Program

Project name: PAX Australia 2025 Merchandise Program - Sweet Memories Pty Ltd

The Brief

As the cultural epicentre for the regional gaming community, PAX Australia 2025 required an official apparel range that served as the ultimate manifestation of the event's brand identity.

Having successfully worked with PAX to deliver merchandise programs in previous years, our team was commissioned to design and deliver a retail-ready, limited-edition streetwear collection for the 2025 event.

The objective was threefold: leverage event exclusivity to generate intense product demand, exceed international merchandise benchmarks through superior print longevity and technical execution, and introduce meaningful sensory-inclusive design tailored to neurodivergent attendees.

Navigating a tight timeline, our challenge was to deliver custom, premium garments that passionate attendees would proudly wear as a badge of honour well beyond the convention floor.

The Solution

We designed a graffiti-themed apparel ecosystem featuring hoodies, jackets, t-shirts, joggers, windbreakers, headwear, and lifestyle accessories.

Recognising the high prevalence of neurodivergence within the gaming community, we rejected traditional mass-production methods to prioritize attendee comfort during grueling twelve-hour convention days. Every garment was manufactured completely tagless with ultra-soft, direct-printed care instructions, flat-locked interior seams, and heavy, premium cotton blends to eliminate sensory irritation.

To overcome volatile international shipping timelines while maintaining total creative control, we executed a two-tiered production model. Unbranded garments were imported from the United States and decorated locally in Australia using direct digital printing for intricate illustrations and premium screen printing for high-opacity logos. Meanwhile, complex outerwear pieces requiring custom hardware were produced with trusted overseas partners.

The Result

The sold-out merchandise program was a resounding success, with demand for the merchandise bigger than ever before.

Serving over 85,000 attendees at the Melbourne Convention and Exhibition Centre, the official retail booth became the central focal point of the festival. Attendees queued for hours to secure the limited-edition pieces, generating record high-margin revenue for the client.

Beyond its commercial success, the program earned immense praise from PAX leadership and attendees for its human-centric, sensory-inclusive design approach.
